The vision (and person) behind Club CreatingYOU.® - Lori Rice.
I started my career in academia, working in public health and agriculture, but everything changed when my husband and I had the opportunity to live in Southern Brazil for three years. The experience shifted everything I thought I wanted (and needed) from work and life. I realized I wasn’t cut out for the rigid structure of office jobs that measured hours instead of impact and limited my freedom to explore the world.
With a background in nutritional sciences and a deep curiosity about food, culture, and creativity, I began writing. That writing opened the door to content creation, photography, recipe development, food styling, and consulting. I launched my content company, Fake Food Free Productions, LLC, in 2017, and later created CreatingYOU.®, a home for the evolving creative paths of small business owners like myself.
Over the years, I’ve worked with an incredible mix of brands, businesses, and boards, testing and developing recipes, styling and photographing food, consulting on food trends, managing social media and ad strategy, writing and photographing cookbooks, editing publications, and teaching others how to style and photograph with confidence.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
I’m not wired to do just one thing. I’ve never wanted to put myself, or anyone else, into a box. I’m a writer, a photographer, a stylist, a teacher, and a traveler. I love freedom and flexibility. The kind that lets me cook and photograph in my home studio one day and write from a hotel across the world the next.
For years, I felt pressure to specialize, to choose just one thing and stay in my lane. But each creative thread is part of who I am. Letting go of one before I was ready always felt like losing a piece of myself. So I decided to build a business that let me keep evolving.
Club CreatingYOU.® is the space I wish I had when I started. It's a space for multi-passionate creatives to find clarity, skill-building, community, and permission to grow on their own terms. Whether you're here to refine your photography, explore new income streams, or simply reconnect with your creative self, you're in the right place.
