What is the Cookbook Photo Academy?

A course that will teach you a step-by-step process for planning and shooting your own cookbook whether you are working with a publisher, self-publishing your own book, or creating an ebook for your fans and followers.

The course consists of 5 power-packed modules to help you photograph your book. Including:

  • Crafting your game plan by understanding photo needs, publisher specs, what your gear is capable of, direction and style.
  • Understanding the key characteristics of cookbook photos including layout, book size export, cover and filler considerations.
  • Creating your Capture Plan by planning shoot days that work with your recipe development and writing
  • Navigating team work through understanding when to be firm or flexible, how to maintain creative control, and how to create a back-up plan when things change after editing and revision.

About your instructor

Lori Rice is a food and beverage photographer, stylist, and writer working with major food and drink brands, agriculture boards, magazines, and cookbook publishers.

She is the author-photographer of the cookbooks Food on Tap and Beer Bread, both published with The Countryman Press. She is the photographer of the cookbook Simply Soup from Gibbs-Smith and served as the editor and contributing photographer for the California Figs cookbook.

Lori teaches food makers, growers, and artisans how to style and shoot their own food and product photos through her CreatingYOU.® family of online courses and trainings.
